Project Type Fundamentals
What is a Project Type
A Project Type is a custom HelpStudio project that has been saved so that it can be used as a base when creating new projects. This can improve reusability and standardization between multiple projects where a common base level of content (Topics, images, stylesheets etc) is shared.
Creating a new Project Type
- Open the HelpStudio project that want to create the Project Type from.
- From the application menu click the Save As Project Type option.
Your HelpStudio project will need to be saved before it can be used to create a Project Type. HelpStudio will prompt to save any outstanding changes.
After the custom Project Type has been created the Options window will be automatically opened to the Project Types page where the name and description of the Project Type can be edited.
Using a custom Project Type
- Click the New Project ribbon button on the Project ribbon tab.
- Expand the All Project Types node and select the Custom node.
- In the right hand pane select the custom Project Type to base the new project on.
- Enter a path for the new project and click OK.
Project Types can be shared between users by copying the following directory:
Windows XP: \documents and settings\all users\application data\contiem\documentx2012\projecttemplates\
Windows Vista / 7: \programdata\contiem\documentx2012\projecttemplates\
