Customization
HelpStudio is extensively customizable, allowing you to adapt the product to your specific preferences.
In addition to a range of application options that can be set in the Options editor (available from the Ribbon Application Menu), HelpStudio allows you to customize:
Content Item Type represents the editable aspects of automatically generated documentation. The standard Content Item Types include Summary, Remarks, Examples and Index Keywords. You can add additional Content Item Types to create and manage new types of information.
For example, if you want to track the author of each documented item's documentation, you can create a new 'Author' Content Item Type that can be used in .NET Xml format source comments, T-SQL source code, and in Content Files.
Templates are a set of configuration items that collectively determine the structure and style of the output generated by the HelpStudio. While HelpStudio comes with several pre-existing templates, you also have the option to create new templates to customize the output according to your specific requirements. Customizations can range from simple StyleSheet modifications to the creation of entirely new page types and Template Properties.
Widgets are a configurable and extendable library of content helpers with related resources. The standard Widget Types that ship with HelpStudio are customizable, and you can define additional Widget Types for use in any project.
